My Garden Marigold

There is nothing like the beautiful sight of blooming flowers in your home garden. It’s a wonderful feeling to see them grow and blossom, if you have planted them, by yourself.

Marigolds or Genda, as it is popularly called in India, is a common flower, used in almost every home, for puja (worship) purpose, or wedding decorations, in mandaps ( the place where wedding rituals, are performed).

It’s used on almost every special occasion, for garlands, for Toran (door or gate decorations).

Marigolds have a gentle fragrance and it’s bright golden colour is synonymous with positive vibes.

Genda or the marigolds are symbolic of Lord Sun, and Lod Vishnu according to Sanatan Dharma.

Recently, I found out that this beautiful flower can be grown by it’s own dried petals.

The process is simple—

Just collect the marigolds from the plants. Cut it neatly, once they start to dry a little after blooming.

On a paper, break and spread the petals and let them dry.

Spread on moist soil, and sprinkle water on them.

Make sure, not to water too much.

Plant them, where there is at least 4-5 hours of Sunlight.

Within two weeks, you can see small sprouts.

And, you can see the flower buds, within 2-3 months.

Marigolds or Genda flowers can be found throughout the year in India, but the best season to plant them is October-November, and Vasant or Spring season in India.

Hope you all would love to plant some Marigolds in your home garden.

@chitrangadasharan

Rishtey/ Relationships, Picture by ©Chitrangadasharan

Stay Connected—Poem

To someone near or far,

After a long time,

A simple phone call,

A simple text message,

For no specific reason,

To know their welfare,

Greetings, and good wishes,

To uplift and reassure,

To exchange pleasantries,

Sometimes, it’s important

To listen, to be there,

To be the healing touch,

The magic of staying connected,

The medicine fails,

The person heals.

Shiva—The Spiritual Significance

ImageSource: Google

Shiva is formless, limitless, the auspicious one.

Shiva has no beginning ( aadi), and no end (antt).

Shiva is the destroyer, the transformer, the universal force.

Shiva is the Lord of dance, the Nataraj, the Adiyogi.

Shiva is the Lord of the universe, the Vishwanath.

Shiva is formless, but all forms belong to him.

Let’s Meditate for Shiva’s blessings, for the divine energy, for the supreme strength, for art, for yog, for his grace, on the auspicious occasion of this

Maha Shivratri 🙏🙏

Nature Doesn’t Judge

©Chitrangadasharan Sunset picture

Nature doesn’t judge. It is not judgemental.

All your make up, hair style, fashionable clothes, perfumes, exotic belongings or latest electronics—have no significance, once you are amidst Mother Nature.

Nature treats everyone equally, without discrimination.

Nature is the ‘giver’ and we are always at the ‘receiving end.’

What’s in a ‘Name’? Perhaps, Everything

©Chitrangadasharan

We often hear people say, ‘What’s in a Name?

Well, perhaps everything.

We own everything in our name— Who we are, our achievements, our characteristics, our identity, our qualities, our deeds—good or bad.

The accumulation of wealth— money, jewellery, property, bungalows, cars, etc.— everything will be left behind.

What will we leave behind, when it’s time to say Good Bye.?

Yes, it will be our Names, by which people will remember us.

We do remember with reverence, those who are not physically with us, by the good work they did, for the society, those who were kind, and filled with compassion, those names who stood for good values.

These characteristics define a person’s ‘Names.’

Let us just think it over. 🙏🙏😊😊

What is Love ❤️ —Poem

©Chitrangadasharan

What is Love?

Can we define it?

I believe, that it’s difficult to define, or explain the term, Love.

Love is a feeling, which can be felt, through eyes, through touch, through your behaviour, through your thoughts or words.

Love can mean respect, acceptance, understanding, sacrifice, and so many things.

Love can be expressed through gifts, or even without it.

You don’t need any particular day to express it, and you don’t even need to be near to the person, to express your love for him/ her.

Love connects the souls, and one can sense it.

Acrostic Poem on Love 💕 💕

Love is divine,

Our most powerful emotion,

Value those, who love you,

Each day, and forever.
