Weekend Treats: Mango Lassi

Mango Lassi is perhaps the best Summer drink, for the hot summer in India.

The flavour and aroma of the ripe mangoes, combined with homemade curd or yogurt can be prepared in less than 5 minutes.

No need to add sugar, as the mangoes are sweet enough. But, if you are making it for the kids, you can add a little bit of sugar or honey.

You can also add saffron or cardamom powder for added flavour.

For the best fruit based smoothies, always go for fresh fruits.

Wash and peel the mangoes, and purée them in a blender.

Add curd and 3 to 4 ice cubes and blend again.

Usually the mango pulp and curd can be taken in equal quantity.

1 cup mango pulp + 1 cup curd

But, you can have your choice, whether to increase the mango pulp, or increase the amount of curd, according to the person, for whom you are making this delicious and nutritious drink.

Lights and Darkness: My Thoughts

We can’t appreciate the ‘light’, if we don’t experience the ‘darkness.‘

One must be able to know, about their own ‘darkness’, in order to deal with the ‘darkness’ in other people.

‘Light’ and ‘Darkness’ are part of our lives.

You cannot view the Moon and the Stars, unless you have the backdrop of ‘darkness.’

‘Light’ and ‘darkness’ exist side by side. Sometimes, they explain each other, and at other times, they overlap each other.

The ‘darkness’ within us, or around us, might be easy to ‘light’ up, if we use the ‘light’ we have within us, to reform ourselves, or in other words, improve our thinking (positive).

Weekend Treats: Fish Fry or Grilled Fish

Who doesn’t like fish—fried or grilled!

If you are a non-vegetarian, I think it’s the perfect weekend food, to be enjoyed with family.

Besides, fish has many health benefits, about which we are all aware.

For fried or grilled fishes, I find pomfret sea fish to be the most suitable. You can marinate it with aromatic Indian spices, leave it for about an hour, and then fry it.

The spices are easy to find, and mostly available in every Indian kitchen, such as turmeric powder, red or green chilli paste, lemon juice, mustard paste, salt etc. as per your choice.

It goes well with rice pulav, made with basmati rice.

If you are calorie conscious, then you can always grill the marinated fish, instead of frying.

Whenever, we sit down and relax with family and friends, it’s quite common to have some beverages.

There are so many choices, like tea, coffee and others.

But, how about having something healthy, nutritious and also yummy!

It’s especially good for children, if you can serve them something, which is yummy, as well as with lot of nutritional value.

And, it’s always good to avoid serving alcoholic drinks to them, and some others, who have some health issues.

Here, I have shared some extremely healthy drinks, which includes watermelon, oranges, pineapple, coconut milk, guava and others.

Remember to serve the kids in an attractive way, because children love well served food.

ख़ुशी और आनंद दो अलग-अलग तरह की अनुभूति होती है ।

जब हम बुद्ध की प्रतिमा को देखते हैं,

तो ये नहीं कहते, कि वह कितने खुश प्रतीत होते हैं,

किन्तु ये कहते हैं, कि वह कितने आनन्दमय प्रतीत होते हैं,

ख़ुशी तो भौतिक चीजों से प्राप्त की जा सकती है,

लेकिन आनन्द तो आत्मा के सुख से ही प्राप्त होता है,

हमें ये प्रयत्न करना चाहिए, कि अपने तथा दूसरों के जीवन में,

आनन्द ही आनन्द हो।
